Brief

Downgrade. is a publishing project that deals with texts focused on the low side of humankind, with special attention on the degenerative effects that might be reflected in present and future society.
Downgrade. offers an opportunity to become aware of the topics covered by the novels and essays offered by the publishing catalogue that are part of video game and film culture, especially to understand the importance of not facing real-life decisions aimed at contributing to a dystopian future.

Concept

The editorial label Downgrade. refers to a button through which a downgrade of society and humankind can be made. Two versions were created: one unclicked for the front cover (before reading the volume) and another clicked for the back cover (at the end of reading the volume).

Each volume in the Stanza 101 series (a clear reference to the torture room 101 in 1984, written by George Orwell) features on the front cover an illustration of the book with the dystopian future that has not yet happened, and on the back cover with the advent of the dystopian future.

The graphic design is designed to enable more inclusive reading, while also taking into consideration the needs of people with dyslexia and color blindness.
