In the “50s many fishing families from Acitrezza (CT) migrated to Mar del Plata in Argentina in search of more prosperous horizons.
The two maritime cities, located in different hemispheres, base their economies on fishing and the fish trade, which is mainly in the hands of Sicilians. Characteristic elements are the colors of the two cities’ fishing boats: white and blue in Acitrezza, and orange and black in Mar del Plata.
